i have 3 little ones and something i used to do as a little "bonding time" in early pg was to lie on my tummy and read at night before bed. I wouldn't do it when it got uncomfortable, but it won't hurt you or the baby to lie on your tummy..... i think it gets the baby closer to your skin, so you feel the movements better. I didn't feel it every night, but it was wonderful when it did happen! I would just feel butterflies like you called it every once in a while. Oh, how I miss it!

I have an 8 month old son, and I remember that when I first felt him move, it felt like I had butterflies in my stomach. It was almost the same feeling you get when you are nervous or excited about something. I was 19 weeks pregnant the first time I felt him. As time went on, it got stronger and stronger. If you're feeling butterflies, it's probably your baby.

I think if you think you felt the baby, you probably did. And some of my friends have described it at butterflies. My first felt like tapping/gas. I was about 16 wks, felt her low, about 4 inches below my belly button. I was laying on my back as well--and felt 3 taps, then she moved. It's inconsistent and random til you are little further along. And when you husband could feel it.

The first movement I noticed felt like a the flick of a finger from the inside. Maybe that doesn't explain it well, but it was more than a fluttering feeling for me. Baby moves lots more now, and I can see the movements, often in the same spot.

My mum always said it was like butterflies fluttering, for me it felt like a bubble popping. I could never tell in the beginning if I felt my baby or not, I was 22 weeks before I was sure, but I'm sure he was moving before that. I definitely don't think it's like gas! Enjoy the rest of your pregnancy.

It's a totally amazing feeling! I don't know how to describe it, a sort of fluttery feeling, though not bad. The first time I felt it I was at the bus stop with my mum. I told her that I felt something move (I was over the moon) and she shushed me! I think she was embarrassed because we were in public.
Anyway congrats on your first babe.
Good luck!

I was 16wks along, and it's my first, when I first felt him.....It was like a little tiny poking feeling. I never felt the "butterflies" like some women explain it to feel like. It was A LOT more noticeable than that to me. And it's just gotten stronger and stronger, I'm now 31wks!!!!! That sounds like a little baby moving though. How far along are you?? It's awesome isn't it?!! Have fun and congrats!!

Hello,
Yes, I too felt butterflies and knew it was my twins moving around in me. I loved it!! It was the most wonderful thing to feel my twins, moving, kicking, doing somersaults.
I delivered my twins at 32 weeks (7 months) so I was only able to really feel them move for 1.5 months. I had to write down how many kicks they each did after my evening meal. My OB gave me a Kick Card. Although, she was never able to see it because I did not make my next appointment. Instead, I was delivering my beautiful twins who will be a year old next month.
Hope this helps you......................... :-)

That would probably be your little one moving. You should start to feel it more and more as the next few weeks go by if it is the baby. I miss those little movements most of all.

It usually feels like little bubbles lightly bursting inside, tiny waves moving across. If you're 14 weeks and this is your first it's rare to feel so early are you very thin?
