It is used in the movie version of Romeo and Juliet (with Claire Danes) from the late 90s as well -- I'm wondering if that is a reason they chose it, Pam and Jim being star crossed lovers or something like that.

Jay Jay is right, it is Lovefool by the Cardigan's.
I had that song in my head for a week after that episode.

didn't watch it but it should be "lovefool" by the cardigans. i'm guessing you were born in the 90s.
