Sounds like the movie "Heidi" to me. The Shirley Temple version came out in 1937, and there's several other versions, including one done in 1993.
Heidi is crippled, I think she fell off the horse, so she wears leg braces. (Calipers). She is orphaned and she goes to live with her mean old grandpa in the swiss alps. All works out in the end though.

Heidi??? i know it that movie there is an old man in a cabin that is kinda mean. i think one of the girls was in calipers and there is like a goat boy...probably not the movie you wanted sorry.
