First of all you can only run one antivirus on your system. If you have two, "AVG", & "Nortons", they will cause conflict. You can run three or four antispyware program without conflict.
If you have Nortons, they are garbage and have been for years. Each an every passing year they get worse. Never finds anything, and if it does will not remove.
http://www.avast.com I use this antivirus program for nine years an I never had one virus. You can download their free for home use personal. Their paid version for corporations is the same, they just make corporate pay. They will ask you for your email so they can send you a key that is good for one year. After the one year you must ask for a new key.
Updates atleast twice or three times per day. As an excellent free background scanner that really works. In my own personal opinon this software is light years ahead of any antivirus free or purchased.
Make sure that you reboot always after a virus has been removed. Also either shut down the virus program that you have or remove. As you can only run one.

If you have a system restore to a few days back, it might get the configurations to when you took the restore point.
This whole homepage thing and spy ware junk looks more like a trojan than a virus. Try getting something like Ad Aware Personal or Spy Bot Search and Destroy. Check out www.filehippo.com for the downloads.

AVG is good and Norton is okay. Avast! (free) has served me well. Restoring will probably not help. You didn't mention a antispyware program, you really need one as well. Update your AVG/Norton programs NOW and look for a stand-alone program like Stinger. I agree with the other poster about multiple AV programs.

Either try system restore, delete all your temporary Internet files.
If the Virus is already in there, it may have cause too much damage, you might have to empty your com out and re-input everything.

Try system restore. go to start, all programs, accessories, system tools, system restore.
Next, try some online scanners:

http://www.bitdefender.com
BTW, it is a bad idea to have multiple anti-virus programs on one computer. The will screw eachother up.

that is not rebooting. you're reformatting. sure that receives rid of them, yet that receives particularly stressful. in basic terms get Microsoft protection needs or Avast! abode version. they'll preserve you from maximum viruses, yet no software in the international will stop each and every thing.
