All the computers in our house have names, aside from the linux box that is our firewall. It needs a name. Its running the linux Smoothwall distro. It sits there and blinks a little.. it has no keyboard or monitor. Its not a special machine really.. just a box.. that protects the rest of our network.
I'm sick of calling it the box thing over there, so please help me come up with a name!

Being that "the box thing over there" [sic] is a firewall, as well as the protector of your network, this would seem a fitting name. Besides, it is short, and easy to remember :-)

BRUTUS.
When I was a little kid, there was a guard dog down the street that always slept behind its house, he had a huge chain that he was tied to and his name was Brutus.
He was a GIANT, white St. Bernard -type dog.
You never saw him but you knew he was there and you didn't mess with him.
