Poverty - Everyone should be entitled to a helping hand when in dire need - but living on government assistance should not be a lifestyle. If the government can provide some basic skills training and assistance in finding jobs, all the better. WORK NOT WELFARE!
Crime - All crimes should be punished appropriately. Enforce truth in sentencing, keep the death sentence for extremely violent crimes, and castrate repeat sex offenders.
Taxes - I work very hard for my money and should have a right to as much of it as possible. I understand the government needs funds to operate, but when my money is concerned I believe there is far too little oversight. For example, why are my tax dollars needed to funding pork barrel projects like the bridge to nowhere in Alaska? Does anyone in the pentagon really need a $10K toilet seat? And do we need career politicians who upon election get healthcare and a decent pension for life - and who can vote themselves a raise?

1. Sometimes people do need help, but welfare is not a life style. there are jobs in every newspaper printed across this nation. People will not get management jobs right off the bat, you have to work your way up to them.
2. If found guilty, put them in prison. don't go soft on criminals cause remember, for every crime, there is a victim. Don't forget the victims.
3. Americans know better how to spend their hard earned money. Let them keep more of it so they can buy the things they need. As they buy more goods, companies will have to put workers on the make more, which means more people paying taxes and buying goods, cause they know have the money they need.
Government should not tell people how to spend their money. This is what Reagan proved with his economic package. JFK, a Democrat, was doing the same thing until Oswald killed him, then Johnson turned it all around.

The traditional view is that churches and private organizations are best equipped to deal with poverty. When the Fed gov't got involved, churches got away from this and started building big buildings. President Bush tried to effect something of a compromise by allowing faith-based operations to compete for federal grants.
Criminals are afforded their Constitutional rights.
Taxes should be as low as possible to encourage growth of free enterprise.

1. Poverty-teach people to take care of themselves. Welfare creates dependants who cannot fend for themselves. Welfare is corrupt, as is any other government run program.
2. Crime-we are soft on criminals. 25 years minimum on child rape. Too much coddling.
3. Taxes-they are too high. We spend too much. The best way to spur economic growth by cutting taxes. Many support the Fair Tax, which would establish a national sales tax.

Basically, we are against them all and we have a plan to fix them all if the other side of the aisle would stop wasting time on things we can not fix or have assigned someone to fix it already.
My Grandfather called it "beating a dead horse" - doesn't matter how long you beat it. It is not getting up.

The Republican view:
1. Poverty is a revelation of your bad blood line. Nothing should be done for the poor as they should all be allowed to die off to clean up the gene pool.
2. Crime is committed largely by the same poor and should be punished harshly. When done by their own, it's "boys will be boys." They need to learn to not get caught next time. Police are to protect their property from the poor.
3. Taxes are to be paid by the poor and middle class. Attorneys are used to create ways for the rich not to pay taxes. All in Congress are attorneys and they write the laws on taxes which exempt corporations from tax and allow the rich loopholes to avoid tax.
