"Gay" is not necessarily a question of gestures or mannerisms. Being gay at its core really has to do with who turns you on sexually - men or women. There are gay men who are very masculine, muscular and macho. And there are straight men who are mousy, wimpy and effete. To most folks in this country, a guy who comes across as effeminate is necessarily gay (sleeps with other guys) even though that may have nothing to do with it.
However, if we're strictly talking stereotypes (as when someone poses the "is he or isn't he" question) playing a musical instrument and attending Japanese animation conventions are no indicators of him being gay. Never having been kissed by a chick also doesn't qualify; there are lots of homely guys in this country that will never know the pleasure of a French kiss. Not driving or owning a car? Lots of New Yorkers don't do either of those; you gonna tell me a 15-million person metro area is all gay based on that? New Yorkers use public transit because the city is so friggin' crowded.
But that last one... "shaking hands like a polite woman". I'd have to see that. To some people if you're a guy and you don't issue a bone-crushing vise-grip handshake you're a wimp. I'm not one of those. Since you've not seen it yourself, even you have some doubts.
Based on what you've described - and, as I've indicated, the stereotypes people think of - no, he doesn't sound gay to me. If you see him stealing glances at handsome guys or if he gets sort of quiet if a non-complimentary gay joke is told, that might tell you something.
Whichever he is, Koster, I hope you'll treat him cool, even if you think he's weird. All of us at some point are gonna be disliked by someone else for whatever reason. Be a good guy. What goes around comes around...
Cheers!

Sounds more metrosexual to me. Effeminate and open minded. But i'm sure that if he is dating a girl i'm sure he is not gay, he sounds like the kind of guy that, if he was gay he would have been out of the closet before he came out of the womb. Anyway, it doesn't really matter if he is does it, have you ever thought about he's feelings before writing this? Everyones different leave the poor guy alone.

Is that all you have to go on? You're wondering if someone is gay on those reasons alone? To me it seems ridiculous. He's with your ex girlfriend which makes me think right away he's straight, but even if he is gay or bi, why do you care? The girl broke it off with you, just move on. Don't try and pick on her new bf because you're bitter about it, let it go and find someone else.

He sounds like a smart, young, gentleman. You kids need to learn to stop labeling. If you don't like him, so what? Find another girl.

It really doesn't matter how gay he sounds.
It matters how gay he is.
And if he's dating your ex, I really don't think you have a right to question.
It's his business and it's her business. It's not your business.

Well he might be but your opinion should be based on your observation rather than somebody else's words.
