I've checked the wiring that I could reach, the fuses, and all the bulbs. Everything seems to check out okay.

Year, make, model?

Update: On your Cavalier, Since the lamps are only malfunctioning some of the time, I would want to check the flasher module first. The module has a computer chip inside of it to control the speed of the blinking lamps, it is attached to the brake pedal mount under the steering column, you should be able to hear the module clicking with the turn signal on. The next item in the circuit is the turn signal switch itself, which is attached to the end of the turn signal lever in the steering column. Try wiggling the turn signal lever around the next time they stop working to see if it makes a difference in the operation. If it starts working upon wiggling the lever, the contacts in the signal switch are failing. If wiggling it does not change the symptom, and the hazard flashers do not operate correctly either, I would change out the flasher module.

The only thing likely is the switch in the steering column - which is a nuisance to reach. before you try that pick a time when the lights are not working even with the turn signal activated. Then try wiggling the wires in the sockets in case there is a bad ground or corrosion. See if that makes them start working.

i own a repair shop and its possible it has bad flasher in it,or a bad ground wire for that particular light, that's a common problem with turn signals is a ground wire coming off of it, or getting corroded and breaking off,it might pay to check all the light,s and make sure all the ground wires are good on it,good luck with it,i Hope this help,s.

I have had this problem on pretty much every vehicle we have owend, and every time it was the blinker module. it is a little part that is usally on the fuse panel. on most cars it is a little metal cylinder. a new one costs anywhere from 99 cents to 4 dollars. since the lights are fine and it is a random blink as apposed to consistent blink, I would bet that the blinker is the problem. hope this helps

there are many things that can cause it. First thing is to check the earth circut.
Bad earth are 90% of electrical problems.
If the earth appears OK still run a temp earth lead than try it.
Hey Waltz you were right good luck.lol
