Why wouldn't honor students commit criminal acts? Whatever gave you to believe that there was some connection between morality and intelligence? I think it was Teddy Roosevelt who said something to the effect that: an uneducated man may steal a boxcar; but if you educate that same man, he will steal a railroad.

The only reason I can think of is they most likely think they will get away with it. The world has somewhat turned upside down in its views of these kinds of activities too. Why does a lot of the world turn its back on good and honor evil? I could mention many examples but I'm sure you are up to date on world events. Also these "honor" students may feel they are entitled to do as they please. They couldn't be more wrong. Eventually they will pay in their lives for the things they do.

Because they don't have that basic sense of self worth. If they did they would know that you treat others the way you want to be treated. Thats not just for honor students but everybody

You know I was an honor student, and upon some self examination I would say that it was mostly out of boredom. But my lawyer says I am not really allowed to comment on that, and my parole officer constantly reminds me that I am not supposed to be online, so I better go.

what does being an honor student have to do with it?

do you think the people (for instance) from Enron were stupid?

people commit crimes for many reasons, some are even legitimately moral reasons, some have to do with poverty, some because of peer pressure (its not easy or often popular to be smart)

Maybe the pressure of being so good is getting to him/her. Or maybe it's a cry for help.
