signs a two year contract, and plays the whole first year, but in the off-season, he gets injured that will sit them out for the next year, do they have to play the third year without changing anything in the contract?? And if they can go wherever they want the third year, even though they didn't play the second year, do they get their full salary for the second year?

In this rare situation, the player will only receive compensation pay for the second year. If it were a 3 yr. deal and he got injured between years 1&2, he would receive full pay.

Even if he sat out the 2nd year, he would get paid and become a free agent after that season. The contracts cover years, not actual time played.

MLB teams often get insurance policies to cover themselves when a player gets injured and cannot fulfill his contract.

Who are you, Barry Bonds??!!?

Depends upon the individual contract, specifically.

But generally, the player will be paid only a minimal salary, one which is less than even the minimum salary for players. Teams decide on a player by player basis, if they keep him for another season; depends upon the injury, too.

yes ,major league baseball contracts are guaranteed. players recieve full pay from their team regardless of if they become injured and cant play.

in your case, the player will get his full contrct amount in the 2nd year(injured year) and then the following year will need a new contract. who that new contract is with depends on a lot of things such as if the player is arbitration eligilbe or a free agent etc etc.
