[Dell, Latitude, D600] I just recently replaced my old hard drive with a new one, and I installed Windows XP on the new one... but my audio is not working, it wont connect to the internet and when I check out the device manager, it shows alot yellow question marks [I believe its not installed devices ?] Anyways, anyone know if I have to get a separate disk to install all the other devices... or did I do something wrong? o.o

The drivers are all available as downloads from Dell.com. If your computer is not connecting (means the network card driver is missing), you may have to have a friend go to Dell and download them and put them onto a CD for you.

Make a list of all the "yellow ?" items, so you know what all drives you need. Go to dell.com, and enter the model number or (best) the Express service code for your laptop. It will take you to a page with all the drivers available.

Good luck...

you need to find out what each of those devices you have are (e.g. model of sound card) and download and install the driver for each. When you installed Windows again, it became a fresh copy. Most of this stuff can be found on a disc that came with your computer or motherboard. There really are going to be quite a few things to install but as long as you have that CD you should be fine. I also recommend that after you install them, look for the newest driver available from the manufacturer's web site for optimal performance. The yellow question marks is the computer saying you have a device installed but no driver for it to tell it how to use it or what it really is.

At this point, if you're not sure of how to take care of this, it would be easier for you to take it to a shop and have them find and installl all the drivers and set up the internet for you.
it wouldnt take them very long either.
It would take too much explaination to tell you how to do it yourself, I'm sorry, I know thats not whaat you wanted to hear.
But each device needs it's own separate driver. you nbeed to know how to look them up on the internet and download them.
At least you would need the ones that activated the internet for you. then you could run MS update and it would take care of the rest probably.
Make it eadsy on yourself, take it to a shop.
It would cost you 1 hr service fee tops.

Go to Dell.com and download the drivers for your system (maybe on a different computer, since you don't have access to the Internet on yours, and burn them to CD/DVD or copy them to a USB flash key)

http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/devices.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&SystemID=LAT_PNT_PM_D600&os=WW1&osl=EN

Some drivers to make sure to install would include:
-chipset driver (Intel Mobile Chipset)
-network driver (Try Broadcom or Intel drivers)
-video adapter driver (ATI Mobility Radeon 9000)

Hope that helps!

aparently you are missing something critical for your computer... DRIVERS! your system restore disk should have them on there... hopefully you used your system restore disk. if you used your system restore disk, you are going to have to call Dell and ask them for the drivers disk for your particular computer.
