Or does it matter? I don't smoke, but I've noticed that it gives people that "bad a**" image that others seem to like.

I am a smoker and I am also the first to say what a dirty disgusting habit it is. I have to shower at least twice a day. I'm constantly changing my clothes. The smell of smoke stinks up your hands, your hair, and your clothes. There is nothing cool about it. I would love to quit. I've been smoking since I was 8 years old. Isn't that crazy? I can't find the right thing to help me quit. I've got severe bronchial asthma and my lungs are horrible. I don't think it gives off a bad a** image, I think it gives off a stupid a** image.

I think that "bas asss" look you speak of is only in teenagers. Adults don't give a flip about that...lol.
I have been a smoker for many years. My teeth are not yellow. My clothes don't stink, and neither does my house. Some people who know me, don't even realize that I smoke, and are surprised when they find out. I do know of the awful smell some people talk about, though. It';s been my experience, that people who smoke way too much, and stay in enclosed spaces. like their house, or never opening the car windows, do start smelling nasty.

Nope, it actually works in reverse. Smoking is indeed a turn-off. Because more people don't smoke and prefer those who don't, if you smoke you decrease the size of the poll of available partners (i.e., as a non-smoker, your pool includes those who smoke and those who don't, but as a smoker, your pool is limited to those who smoke).

Sure these are overgeneralizations and assume all things are equal but for the smoking, but hey, it's a free answer.

And lugging around an oxygen tank with a hole in your throat and bad skin is a complete turn off and does not give people that bad *** image you refer to.

Well, to me I won't date someone who smokes, it is a bad habit and it leaves a smell that I cannot stand. I already had to care for people who smoked and I am not looking to care for someone again that does not take care of themselves, sorry. I think that smokers should just date smokers and leave people that don't smoke alone. I don't care how good they look, if they smoke that is very unattractive.

Smoking is a nasty, nasty, habit. It stinks, is expensive, it's addicting, not to mention the fact it ruins your lungs and those of anyone around you. I am quite fond of my lungs just the way there are and I find them quite useful in most of my life.
So yes, smoking is VERY unattractive.

I smoke and I don't think it's very attractive. I don't smoke out in public or around people. I really think it's rather ugly. Men it doesn't look as bad to me....maybe I'm just freaky in that way.

I suppose some people (adolescents) find smoking attractive. When you get to be my age, no one finds it alluring any longer. But I don't think anyone finds an "over 30 something" donut fryer too intimidating lol... I love to smoke, gotta quit.

Smoking spells dirt bag to me. I am in rental and they seem to be the lower class people I deal with. Always have trouble being on time with rent ,but always sucking on a cigerette. At what, $3 a pack.
