So without going into all the details of why I am a conservative Christ-ian who mostly votes Republican, but has never been a straight ticket Repub... (So don't stone me)!
Please explain to me what having a Democratic President in office is going to do for us as far as foreign policy is concerned.
How will a democratic president wrap up this "war on terror"?
I want specifics as far as Iraq and all the people we have managed to pissoff for the last few years. Do you think as soon as a Dem takes the whitehouse, we will get walked all over?
I know the Presidential election is still a ways off, but what I choose on Tuesday's election needs to pave the way for my eternal thinking for my Country. My current impression is one of "dismay". So tell me why I might need to start thinking outside the Republican box and what good that would do for me (us).

Pancakes: You are right. I am certainly not sorry for being a Conservative. And "I" am not sorry for what a man does with his title as President of the United States of America. I did vote for GW, but I didn't vote for the man that is currently residing in our White House. He has disappointed me so much, in so many ways, (Not that I haven't recognized the good in him), but I feel in light of how things are he should be the one who is sorry. Not me.

TXWEBBER: I didn't ask for you to tell me everything that is wrong with Republicans. I asked for you to tell me what was so RIGHT with the Democrats. Would you like to try again?

I asked a question, it appears that you are unable to answer it. And you dare to call me the "idiot"?

How can anyone speak of what a Democratic President will and won't do when we don't have anyone running yet? No one can truly give you any specifics until we have a nominee and they tell us what they are going to do.
Points for you for looking for information to make a thoughtful decision when you go to the voting booth. You should always look on both sides of the fence (and even at the Independents) to make the best decision you can...
I am a Democrat and I never vote a straight party ticket, sometimes I truly believe that the republican or the independent will do the better job...I think it's all about the person not their party.

With all the questions you have about the Republican Party, and all good ones, I think that would be enough to
switch parties. At least for this Election Cycle.
Democrats will get us out of Iraq, We will not be Walked All Over. We will Force the Iraqi Government to take
the Lead in getting us out of Iraq except for a small
Security Force in Large Cities.
The end result of this war will be that All the Tribes
shall have a say as to what kind of Government
Iraq should have. Only a fool would think it will be
the same as the US Government. Bush will not have the Power to Dictate to the Iraq's forever, no matter how
long he "Stay's the Course". The sooner his "Teeth Are Pulled" the quicker our forces will start for Home.
This War has been a Disaster, and to continue it is
to lower the Standing of America throughout the World.
Our Fighting Forces have done an outstanding job and
nothing can detract from their sacrifices, but it's time now to let Iraq to again become Iraq. Let them Chart their
own course.

Don't think of it like the Democrats are going to solve everything or institute new policies.
Even in the best of cases, the Democrats winning houses of congress will be limited in what it can do.
The most important thing that it will do is provide a check to a conservative administration that has begun to behave dangerously for everyone in the world.
I think it's important that light is shed on what is happening, where all the money is going, who is doing what.
I think it's important that no branch of government gets out of control and I think America has a lot to learn from the true qualities of the Bush administration, so that maybe we would be smarter in the future.
People have been very manipulated, so many conservatives think that the current administration is the normal kind of conservative, but they're not.
I mean, conservative ideology isn't supposed to call for massive subsidy of oil companies, numerous foreign interventions, police state monitoring or state endorsement of religions?

Well, don't know what help I'll be but here's my two cents. I've read your question and your additional input and I believe that we have suffered from the same problem. In the last election we thought we were getting one thing and ended up getting another. What I have done is hold my nose once again and voted for the Party the reflects my core beliefs the strongest. That's not to say I'm giving them a free pass, it just means I'm deathly afraid of the other guys. Like most Americans I have to work for a living so I can't stay on top of what these elected officials do on every issue every moment of the day. But I have made a solemn vow that every time I hear of them leaning the wrong way or doing something I don't like they are going to hear from me. Isn't E-Mail great! Between now and the next election I'm going to be looking at a viable 3rd Party, I'll frigging form one if I have to. But we can start in the primaries, got to get some new blood in there, ones that will understand right up front that if they don't do what we put them there in Washington for then they won't be going back. we can start here in our own backyards but we can't just let it stay there, it has to go national or we end up with the same problem we have now, SOB from other states mucking it up for everyone else. Can you say Ted Kennedy? That's worth about two cents :)

To think outside the constraints of conservative though enables you to appreciate and accept the views of other individuals. A Democratic house, senate or president will provide a alternative viewpoint more in line with the views of the general population. One problem with the leadership in this administration is that they are governing from a specific viewpoint that is religion based. As to the war on terror it will always exist. In fact after the invasion of Iraq it has escalated the problem. Now all countries are in fear of a US invasion if they do not comply with US interests. A Democratic Presidential foreign policy has always been less aggressive

DON'T DO IT!!!! I was never really big on politics until I started on Answers. I always thought that all politicians were the same. Now, I know that we cannot allow these liberal Democrats to take control of the country at this most crucial time in history.
The terrorists need to know that there are people in the States who are strong and determined not to let them win! We need people who realize that their threats are serious and they are determined to kill those who do not believe what they do. Democrats have promised that they will pull the troops out of Iraq before the job is done, leaving those people to kill each other off until the group remaining wins. We will only have to go back and fight again. While I agree that a change is needed to stop Iran and Syria from sending their radicals into Iraq to kill our soldiers, it is better that we fight them there than here.
It was the previous Democrat administration who failed to take these threats seriously and believed in "peace at all costs." They did nothing after the attack on the USS Cole; they refused to take Bin Laden when they had many chances to do so. They believed N. Korea's lies that they would not develop nuclear weapon capabilities when the previous administration gave them every tool they needed to build the bomb they just exploded. What would happen if the Democrats took control again? It is frightening to think about! Don't let them do it! Don't let them risk your life and well being for "peace at all costs."

I feel the Rep's did right in going into Afghanistan and should have more troops there and stop the stupid politicians in Washington from trying to run things from Washington, why are we paying our generals etc if they don't have the liberty to run the war,who thinks any politician in Washington can run the war as good or better than the military, give our men freedom to fight and pursue the enemy and destroy him, but, the Dem's idea of cut and run Will be the same as Viet Nam millions of innocent people will die unnecessarily , and we will be fighting the Muslims here within 5 years,if that is what you want vote Dem's if you want to protect America you had better think and not be scared by our lib. press etc,

Don't go voting for anyone because they go under the republican or democrat group. Vote for them because you agree with their stand the most.
For forty years I've been voting. And NEVER have I had a candidate I totally agreed with.
The basic mantra of todays Democrats is --Republicans are wrong. That may be but I haven't heard what the Democrat ideas are. How can I decide if I like their ideas better if they keep them secrets.
I like to think outside both boxes.

THINKING is the key word here! You are Thinking!!! Do you realize how rare this is? So few people THINK in today's world. WTG!
I am a Republican who has never voted Straight Party Ticket. I do (and always will) vote for the best qualified candidate dispite the party!
You are wise to consider the future of every citizen of this great country! Vote for the one you believe to be the best qualified to lead this great nation!
If Everyone voted along these lines, we would once again be the leader of the free world.
Sorry if this doesn't answer your exact question. More like you are needed!

One of the most deceptive notions coming out of the Democratic camp is that the Republican Party is campaigning on a “platform of fear.” Democrats advance this idea simply because Republicans are addressing the deadly serious issue of the war against Islamofascism. In reality, Democrats are either confusing fear with focus or they are intentionally deceiving the American people for political gain.
