I have a project to do for my temp employer,. He makes electric motors. He wants to know how many lakes are in each state and which lakes restrict boats to electric motors only. H E L P!

Yugie is on the right track. I would add a few more keywords. for example, Ohio +"Department of Natural Resources" would take you to www.odnr.gov. Eventually you'll find it's PDF which lists ALL the lakes in Ohio, their horsepower limit, and electric only status. Google will give you everything you need to know.

The other thing is to buy the guide to each state park. Obviously your search is for government owned parks with lakes. Private campgrounds' info will be much harder to come by.

That will be quite an extensive search. I would suggest doing a Google search for each state's Dept. of Game and Fisheries, and checking under boating rules, etc. It will be quite an undertaking. I'll give you a head start, here is Virginia's DGIF website on boating rules.

I would say you have a near impossible task.
I would say there are approx. eleven thousand eleven hundred and eleven lakes alltogether but I wouldn't even try to guess the restricted ones. I think your employer is having fun with you,
