I'm looking for a good sailing school... I would like for it to last around a month or longer but I'm having a hard time finding one that last for that amount of time.

I'm looking for one that would last for at least a month or so. It would be nice if it was near florida or the Virgin Islands, but anywhere near east coast (US) would be fine.

Some the best sailing schools on the East Coast are located in Annapolis, MD. Any of the sailing schools there are good including Annapolis Sailing School and many others.

if youre starting from scratch, yeah, take the USCG Aux or US Power Squadron courses first...usually nearly free...as a gretat introduction to boating....

Steve and Doris Colgate run a good program; so does Annapolis Sailing; in St Croix, USVI Jones Maritime.......340-773-4709 is highly recommended

+ Andy,

Thanks for the additional details. I have found that a good fast start will come from the US Coast Guard Auxiliary safe boating class (that should get you the boating principles). As far as sailing goes most yacht clubs and some local schools near the water are always putting on classes. Look under boat rentals also as they don't just let anyone go out in their boats. I took mine as a child and again on several naval bases then I ended up teaching them. It became tooo frustrating for me but other people have more patience than I do. I will give you a link to start you off:
