How do I fnd out about a ip address that is trying to connect to my computer?

I would like to know how can I find out more about a ip address trying to access ports to my computer.I Know that is is illegal and I want to put a stop to it.The same address keep trying to gain access and it will not stop.what is the purpose of connecting ports.to spy on people or what.It is mostly for port 7797.

Start button > Run
Type in: command
Should open a DOS windows
Type in: tracert followed by the IP addess, such as: tracert 192.168.100.101
It will show you all the router your PC jas to go through to find the IP address
The last location will be where the IP address is coming from
While you can not get to the individual person, you probably will be able to get to their ISP
Contact that ISP and let them know what is happening. As they do not want to be sued, they will usually contact the user and tell them to stop or disable their account.

type netstat. it's not illegal. you have the right to check who are connected to your computer. in fact, you can report those people who do not get permission to connect to your computer. you can find out who's behind those computer by going to google and search 'whois' and type that ip address.
