Very simple. I actually suggest this to my students... First of all, I remind them, that the things you do while you procrastinate are usually small and insignificant--check e-mail, text-messaging or phone calls. But keep in mind, if you finish your work quickly, you'll have the rest of the day free--so you can go out to the movies or do something else with your friends instead of these tiny little time-wasters. Also, the key to killing procrastination is just open up your textbook or homework and write your name on it. Guaranteed, since you've done all that work to just write your name on your assignment, you'll be ready to finish it. REMEMBER, all the time you was procrastinating can be used to do work--so that when you're done, you can do some real fun stuff. Hope this helps!

I used to have to this too, but I managed to overcome it. The procrastination is really due to a fear of not being perfect. Perfection gets in the way of excellence. Also, you may be depressed and need psychological help. I dug myself into a deep hole academically after my mother died. But I got help, and now I have a Ph.D. Sometimes, the people who have a rough start in life end up going much further than he/she ever thought possible. Discuss the problem with a teacher, counselor, parent or psychiatrist.
Start with your easiest assignment. A lot of time, once you get in the groove, you will just keep going. Also, get a big calendar and mark it with test dates and due dates. Then, estimate how long it will take you to complete the work. For instance, if a test is two weeks away, plan to be finished studying for the test two days before you're scheduled to take it. For math and science, there is only one way to study: do problems, problems, problems. If you can't solve a problem, bring it to your teacher, and then solve the problem by yourself when you get home.
Finally, don't give up. Know that the power to do well is inside of you. It does take time to get out of a hole, so start climbing. Good luck.

According to my Educational Psyc book, people put off doing homework and studying when they don't feel like they are very good or can be very good at a subject or all subjects. This unfortunaly makes for bad grades that reinforces the idea of not being good at school stuff. So the answer is, find a classmate that you can identify with and study together, learn from others about how they study, give your self lots of positive self talk about how you really can learn this stuff, set goals and stick to them, and learn some learning stratigies to make it easier. Hope you can pull yourself out of the downward spiral.

You sound like you have ADD. I'm sure you get good grades in those classes, because you are probably intuitive like most people that procastinate. Procastination can be eliminated by time-management. Prioritize. I'm sure you've been told that many times. Right now, out of all the test you are going to take, decide which one will have the most impact on your grade in that class, or which one is the most important. After the test day, make yourself determiend to do well on the next test. Find out what is going to be on discussed in the next chapter, and take the initiative to break down the overwhelming amount of chapters. I'm a freshman in college now. One thing that i realized that was totally different from high school is the amount of homework. I was a procastinator like you. Befroe i knew it, i had my first test, and i didn't even read the necessary 150 pages which the test was based on. In 4 days, i had to cover a lot of material. I had to do like 32 LONG pages a day. Imagine if i started studying 2 weeks ago. That would have gave me 10 extra days. I could have done 10 pages a day as opposed to 14 pages. Imagine if i started a few days before that. It would have been less. I don't know how many pages you have to read, but if its less, congradulations.

Is any of this important to you? Do you want to succeed or coast? It's entirely up to you. Look, it is my personality to procrastinate on everything. Most of the time I just have to make an effort to make things important. You set aside time to do stuff. You go in a room with no computers, radios, or tv's. Sit down and get your work done with no distractions. Make it important. Make the tele, computer, radio, etc. a treat for getting stuff done. Even if it means that you work so hard that you don't get to use them from time to time. Like I said, it turns it into a treat/incentive to get this stuff done. And don't just do it. Do it well. Good luck.

you need to make a shedule. When you know you have a test in a week. Study for 15 min. each night. When you have projects/papers do sections a night. The first night write a paragraph or brainstrom ideas, 2nd night start project, write body paragraphs, etc.
Also you could reward yourself. Take yourself out to your favorite restaurant or buy yourself a new outfit.

placed electric powered alligator clips on the ends of your arms. Then, whenever you slack off, have somebody ask your self the frickin' hell out of you! i might think of you would be doing issues in a prioritized style very without delay flat.

Procrastination is a result of poor self-confidence. You probably feel you won't do well, so if you don't study and you end up not doing well, you can convince yourself later that if you did study you would have aced all the tests.
