Get them over a common denominator first (notice 18 will work as a common denominator):

Multiply 5/6 by 3/3 to get 15/18

Multiply 7/9 by 2/2 to get 14/18

Now you can easily add them: 15/18 + 14/18 = 29/18

First of all find out the LCM of 6 and 9 which is 18.Now ,you have to multiply the numertor and denominator of each number by such a number so that the denominator in each case becomes 18.Then add up the numertos and put the denominator under it and you get the answe. 5/6+7/9 = (5*3)/(6*3)+(7*2)/(9*2) =15/18+14/18 =29/18=1 11/18(one whole number 11 by 18) ans.

GET them to a common denominator. wat is the first number they have in common? 18. so if 6*3=18, then u take 5*3 and that is your new numerator. you do the same thing with 7/9. if 9*2=18, then you take 7*2 to get 14. so now you have 15/18+14/18, and just add the numerators. you should get 29/18, and see if you can reduce it. thats all, well done

So first find a common denominator. You can use 18.
So the equation would be 15/18 + 14/18, which equals 29/18.

Simplify. 29/18 = 1 11/18
