Does the answer depend on things like head control? Do you have to wait until they are out of a "baby bucket" seat?

We waited until our first was nearly 9 months old due in part to weather. Our youngest is nearly 4 months with good head control, but can't sit up on his own as yet. He does lounge in a bouncy seat that is similar to the stroller set up - looking pretty stabil, but mainly I wondered what other folks' experiences have been. We've seen adapters to have the baby bucket attach to the jogger, but don't want to invest in that accessory. We saw nothing in the manual.

A child should not be placed into a jogging stroller until they have full head and neck support on their own which most children gain around 6 months of age. If the stroller you are using however, is car seat compatible you can place the child in there sooner but jogging is still not recommended but at least you can get some use out of the stroller soon...this also applies if the stroller fully reclines flat but you would also want to purchase some type of infant neck and head support so that the childs head is much more supported.

Most stroller manufacturers recommend you wait until the baby is at least 6 months old. Yes, it depends on head control. 6 months is the average time it takes a baby's neck muscles to develop to the point where they can support the weight of their own head.

I've been giving my 3 week old some closely supervised tummy play time (mostly I lie on the bed and put her on my chest) and I've already noticed big improvements in the amount of time she can support the weight of her own head.

What do you think?!

Do you think the baby's head should bobble around in there while you jog? Think of the baby...if he's alright and steady, like if the seat lays back and the baby's secure, it's alright. If it's not, it isn't!! Think About It!!
