It feels as if everyone knows I'm a bad person and did bad things in the past (which I have done), I think it effects the way certain people act around me and the way I act towards them.
How do I deal with this?
Do people really care years after the fact?

People have amazingly short memories !!
Really. Before long, they will be talking about somebody else. Just live it down. Make so many improvements in the way you live, look, and act that they start to see you as a somewhat different person. Don't give up on yourself.

No, it doesn't matter to anyone else, but it certainly does to you! Face it, in 100 years time, nothing that any of us have ever done, will matter a rat's wrinkle. And, if you shake ANYONE'S closet hard enough, skeletons WILL come out. We've all done things that we'd prefer didn't come to another person's attention. You may have done some bad things in the past, but that doesn't necessarily make you a bad person. The fact that you're feeling this sort of guilt and self-consciousness is possibly an indication that you regret your past actions - maybe it's time to move on and forgive yourself.

Oh no, not again, Witchy, girl!
Get over it, already.
The fact that you fell remorse means that you won't do such a thing again.
And, honey, people do not fixate about thing. Most probably, everybody's already forgotten about it.
Now, be a good girl and don't you ever do something like that again, OK?
And stop fixating and get a move on with life.
So you made a mistake, so what?
To err is human!
And you're just a human.
So get out of the rut, already!
Cheer up!
Don't worry, BEE HAPPY!

oh come now, so long as you know you don't do any of the bad things anymore then you shouldn't really care. unless of course you still do do those bad things. maybe yuo're not letting it go because you're not through with doing those bad things?
my advice: make sure you're done with doing the bad things. when they're gone, you wont care what others think because you'll be a better person, regardless of what anyone thinks.

Sounds as though you're self-conscious. Just think about all the bad things other folks have done. Everyone has some guilt hanging over them, you just think about it. Most don't.

Are you kidding? What could you possibly have done that was SO bad, and how long did you do these things? Did you oppress someones ability to work?, to live in happiness and peace?, take their kids?, torment them? Alienate people from society? Disallow them to talk to family? What did you do? TELL ME! I Command thee!!

if you think they care, you feel they care. you look at people the way you want them to see you.
