Yeah, you got a good car. Axles break all the time. Mine broke twice on the way to work this morning. Of course, that's not supposed to happen! Take your lemon back and buy Japanese. I've got a 2006 Scion xA and I love it.

I would have them fix the problem, but be on alert for other issues. I am not one of these mindless "Japanese cars are the only good cars" people, but I try to be realistic. The first couple of years of a new model of any car (or a new body for an existing name) will usually have bugs that were not, for one reason or another, caught in the design process. If it does continue to have issues, there are lemon laws in most states that you can look into. Keep documentation of any issue you have, and if something major, like the engine or the transmission die, then you may want to take it back immediately. It is true that some of the Japanese manufacturers have earned a reputation for making more reliable cars than the American companies, but the Americans are improving in quality and are getting close to the Japanese. In any case, you need to think hard about whether or not you really like this car. You probably do since you bought it, but make sure. If not, there are plenty of others out there, and if so, be prepared to put up with a headache here and there if you want to keep it around long enough to enjoy it. Still, also keep in mind that any manufacturer can periodically make a lemon, and if that happens to be the one you got you may just want to exchange it for another of the same model. I hope this helps.

Ive got an '05 Cobalt LS Sedan with 12.7k miles on it and I drove it from CA to MA and I haven't had any problems with the car what so ever.
Its a good car but you probably got a buggy part. It has a 6 year 72k mile powertrain warranty on it wihich should be covered. Take it to a Chevy dealer and they should fix it for free.

no I would take it back if the axle is already broke to me that would be a sing of mistreatment pulling out to fast or spinning the tires you could ask who the previous owners were and how old they were that may give a little hint on the history of the car

I hope you bought it from a dealership, they usually offer a 30 day warranty. If not, I think you are stuck with it. Likely Axel damage was caused by negligence of previous owner, and not a reflection of the car itself. Good luck, hun.

if its under warranty, fix it. you said it has minor problems... then fix them!! they are good cars, but it is a used car, and it should have been checked out by a competent and honest technician before it was bought. if it wasn't, then you have to look to the person in the mirror, and ask why not...
