It could be arthritis. IF it seems to hurt worse when it's suppose to rain or the weather changes...it's more than likely arthritis. You will need to see a MD. There are a lot of good meds

You have injured the knee in some way. The popping and snapping is the ligaments or tendons. The swelling is an indication of further injury or reinjury. It would be a good idea to see a sports medicine doctor about this. The injury may become permanent.

When your knee pops and swells after exercise, most probably your meniscus, either medial or lateral, has been injured. Go see an orthopedic surgeon or sports medicine doctor. They will send you for an MRI to see the damage you have. Take my word for it, you a buggered knee that needs treatment. Don't delay!
