Double standards. Some people see rappers who spout a load of crap about killing and rape as being more influential and possibly dangerous than kids playing games where they get to do those things, other people see games as being more harmful- there's been a lot about that lately.
In a perfect world, neither would exist.

Well, rap music is generally rejected because of the fact that most of the songs of this genre contain explicit and material unsuitable for the public, BUT, not all. Right? Music these days, especially rap, tend to give a view and opinion on life and its necessities. Some songs state that we should stay tight and such. Some rap songs are just about rapping.
On the other hand, violent games don't recieve such rejection is because the lack of interest and enforcement of game violence. Eventhough much has done to avoid production of violent and adult oriented games, theses days, even a 10 year old could own a game containing extrem gore and blood, violence and soft core porn, even hard core porn with just a snap of a finger. Something must be done to avoid this from happening.
So, as I conclude. There is nothing wrong with rap music or games. You just have to keep it normal. Not too violent, not too boring.

One of the main reasons could be is that (these are actually people saying what the want to say, and video games are just imaginary). But not everybody stereotypes rap, I think more people concern for violent video games than rap music. Most people say rap is bad for the words they say. But people are actually fighting to get certain games off the street. Take Grand Theft Auto SA for instance. Maybe some people buy the videogames because they want to actually see the stuff in them, which is usually normal to explore, but to imitate...

There are people out there in Congress out there talking down on video games; thus the appeal in the rating system on the games. They tried to ban GTA3. The reason video games sell better than rap music is due to the fact that downloading and dubbing music is far more popular that doing it with video games.

Parents make a deal about violent games all the time. However, a lot of parents don't pay enough attention to what their kids are doing to realize what they are playing.
