You didn't mention what brand of printer, or even if it's an inkjet. Usually, it's a matter of dried ink on the print head. Remove the head and soak it standing up in warm water. Don't use the hottest tap water, but just so it feels warm to your skin. The lid of a jar works pretty well; you only want about an eighth of an inch of water to set the head in. Leave it until the water feels cold (room temp) and then do it again. Should print just fine after that.

You might try adjusting the print head or going to maintenance in your printer setup and cleaning the print head. It's kind of hard to diagnose your problem with limited information. Try asking again and specify your printer make/model, etc.

If you re-filled your printer cartridge yourself you have to let the ink soak in for about 1 hour then fill it some more and let that soak in. It takes about four soak ins before you really fill the cartridge up. Other wise the reading the printer gets from it is still empty.

Have you updated the device drivers lately? Or if you have recently updated your computer to sp2 it causes problems wih "some" printers or other hardware.
