"Have sex with your partner. Before labour can begin, your cervix has to soften. Exposing your cervix to natural substances (prostaglandins) helps this softening process occur. Semen is a rich source of prostaglandins. If your pregnancy has reached around 40 weeks, you may be able to trigger labour by exposing your cervix to prostaglandins through having sex several times over a couple of days"

There is also some evidence that suggests taking sperm orally works better. You can try nipple stimulation as well.
HOWEVER nothing will make the baby come before the baby is ready! Respect your baby and let him/her choose their birth day.

Have sex for your hubby - doesn't he deserve to be close to you? He has put up with all those months of your raging hormones! Not only that, once you 'get started', you'll enjoy the time with your husband.
And unless your doctor specifically told you not to, there's no reason why you can't have sex. The 'have sex' thing is an old wives tale, for sure. Certain biological things have to happen before your baby will decide to be born.
Relax and enjoy the time he's in your belly - you'll miss all the kicking when he's not in there any more. Plus, enjoy some sleep - as much as you can! You'll miss that, too!
Good luck and don't forget: Breast-fed is best!

It worked for me. I just made sure I propped my rear up afterward and didn't get out of bed. My water broke about 6 hours after having sex.

No, it doesn't. Or at least, it didn't for me. My son was born two weeks late, and I tried every one of those silly old wives tales about bringing on labor. You can try it, but your baby will come when he or she is good and ready.

I didn't try it personally. Both of mine came 3 days early but I have heard of other people being told BY THEIR DOCTORS to do it to get the ball rolling, so to speak.

i was 39 weeks with twins. believe me we tried everything. we walked 20 min every day, we tried sex (which at my size was miserable), we tried driving down a bumpy road, and all the other stuff people tell you.
i went to the hospital, b/c i couldn't feel one boy moving around, and begged them to induce me, and since it was slow on christmas eve--they did!
good luck to you--and your hubby if you decide to try it!

i think you mean to deliver sooner. that might work but the drs. don't want you to have sex at the last month because semen might go into the baby's path. you don't want that . it could cause a lot of trouble for the baby and that would affect you and your hubby too. it's not worth it. just do oral sex for a while, he'll like that too.

your first?
annoy your doctor.....mine gave me a wicked internal which got everything moving.....my water broke and I went into labor about an hour later....I'd much rather have sex than go through that internal again.
