I have heard that the pointy hat was a symbolism for ancient witches. The tall point was closer to the sky and thus the moon and was meant to bring them closer to it.

Witches look no different than anyone else. Some like to make fun of themselves and dress up as stereotypical Halloween witches with the pointed hats. I've never heard of pointed shoes being strictly Halloween wear nor being associated with witches.

Yes I did! My mother made me a cape when I was about 10 years old, It was revers able. Red on one side and blue on the other side. Why do you think you are not warm on the front side if you wear a cape. My cape had slits in the side for arm holes. It was warm , but not made for winter wear, unless you wore something warm underneath it. I remember a little boy bumped into me and his mother got after him, she thought I had a broken arm. I guess a cape can be a fashion statement depending what it is made of.
