turning yellow is a sign of over watering. Make sure they have lots of light and warm air and good drainage in the bottom of the pot.

Each plant has it's own requirement for light, watering, fertilization, humidity, temperature, etc. You have an interest in plants,so now you must educate yourself.Get yourself a book on plants that gives you the common name and the Latin name. It needn't be an expensive one. Start with a paperback. Find out plants that a beginner can handle , like a philodendron or a pothos Get your confidence and skill built up, and go on to the next one that interests you. Soon, people will be asking you for help!

Depends on the kind of plant you have. Some still need a good bit of light during the day while others need very little. You also don't want to water a house plant too often. Find out what kind of plant you have and ask your local nursery or better yet, take the plant to them so they can tell you what you are doing wrong.

Now that the days are getting shorter, plants require less water, but as much light as they can get. It should help to keep them near a south window during the winter months.

Don't overwater them - yellowing is a tell tale sign. Take them outside every once in a while and squirt them down with a hose, this removes the dust and lets them breathe some fresh air.
