my elbow hurt and my workout trainer told me to put a compression wrap on it to compress the extensor muscle. as soon as i did the pain went away--but only when i wear the support.

does anyone have any experience with this? if i keep wearing the support will it heal or will i have to wear the brace for the rest of my life?

You are probably suffering from tennis elbow(no need for you to play tennis to get this). You can test yourself. Have someone put pressure on your wrist facing down, then you try to lift your wrist against resistance. If your elbow hurts on the outer aspect, you are positive for tennis elbow. Lot of things can be done for it-physical therapy, steroid shots, surgery as the last resort. Go see a doctor and don't simply rely on your trainer.
