I've done mine 4 times. Clean the ear first with rubbing alcohol. Get an ice cube and hold it on the area you want pierced for a minute or two, just until it's numbed. Get a clean, sterilized piercing stud (not a needle or safety pin like some fickle girls use) and pierce the area. If you have a skin marker or sharpie you can use this to mark the hole you want to go it.
A side note...Whenever I've done mine it was easy to get past the first layer. Once I was in the center it was a little tougher and then easy again once past that. Sometimes you really have to push on the stud to get it in. You do feel a bit of pain afterwards, so you can hold the ice on it again after you've pierced it to help ease the pain.
The reason you can't use a needle or safety pin...as soon as you take them out the hole closes up, and this also helps provoke infection. Then you have to go through the agony of trying to put an earring in the just pierced and now closing up hole. When you use an actual earring you pierce the ear and you leave it in and leave it alone. Lobes take 2-6 weeks to heal, cartilage takes a few months, so don't take them out, even to clean them, until the healing process is done.

you need to pierce it with the stud or earing you are going to put in it. Use the ice to numb it and push the stud through.. i peirced mine with a needle first but when i pulled the needle out i couldnt get the earing back in it.. And it doesnt tickle... Good luck.... better still get done by a professional.

Piercing your own ears can be really dangerous. Claire's has free piercing, but you have to buy the special earrings, so it ends up being like $10. It's way safer, you get free cleaner, AND you get to hold the teddy bear and have people watch u which is seriously pretty cool.

You wouldn't peirce it yourself. i think if you do it wrong it messes up something so Go somewhere and get it peirced. Like Clair's or what ever store.

If you don't know how to do it don't bother trying. Ask some people you know and see if they know how if you really don't want to go to a pro.
But I don't see why that is? Just get a professional to do it, it doesn't hurt. But if you do it yourself and do it wrong god knows what will happen. It's not expensive either
