My daughter is 41 years and is the proud Mum of an 8 month old boy who was born very prematurely but is doing well. She now talks about another, well she had a spontaneous pregnancy the first time so there is hope for a second. Very best wishes but don't leave it too long the old body clock is ticking very fast now.

your chances do not decrease as you get older, that is of course unless menopause has set in but you are still a little young for that. most the people on here must be very young because i have seen answers alot that refer to women over 30 basically being old. i saw one answer the other day that said you should not have children in 30s or 40s because you have no energy and have high risk of health defects which is a load of pooh. have you ever had children? your chances are just as good if not better. i got pregnant from just one time with my current pregnancy and i am no young pup. if you do not want children you need to be just as careful as a 20 year old.

Hi Ali - cant answer the 'first time' bit but will comment that my wife is pregnant, aged 41, and in perfect health. We have one older child but decided for one more. Do not let your age stop you trying. Good luck and do not listen to all the scary stuff people will tell you. Be aware of the risks, but you owe it to yourself, and your partner, to at least try. You can get pregnant first time, I am sure. No reason why not, is there?

Your chances decrease as you get older. At 41, you may still conceive naturally (without fertility drugs), but you have a plethora of tests to look forward to so the docs can make sure your baby doesn't have any abnormalities that aren't common in the pregnancies of younger women. Of course, women are having babies later and later in life, so this isn't to say that you won't have a normal, healthy baby. But natural conception could be difficult.

Your chances are not as good as they use to be, but not impossible. You are not elderly, which means that you are still fertile. You will be able to become pregnant. Maybe not the first time you try it because of your age, but you should be able to.
Only one question for you: Why are you deciding, after all this time, to have sex for the first time? I'm not trying to be rude, and no offense, but you must have had chances to have sex in the past, right?

I'd say not good. Depend on lots of factors. They say over 40 that if you don't conceive naturally in 6 months to see a fertility doctor. If you wait too long a doctor may not be able to help you. Chart your periods and your BBT, and cervical mucas to give yourself the best chance each month.
Some women over 40 have NO problems getting pregnant, so hopefully you are one of them!
Good luck
