To tell if anyone is using your wirless from DSL: ( DSL Only)

Your router's IP address is 192.168.1.1 (Only works with IE) then you should see the name of your router and how fast it is connecting. Can you please give us your router model?

To see who is using my router I go to Troubleshooting->status->Wirless Stations. This should list all the computers using wirless router right now.

To protect yourself or to lock your computer from other people you can A. Rectireve there MAC address: that is the funny long
12:Ab:12:CD:ER:21 something like that and make it so the router only allows computer with those address to connect and anyone else that doesnt match to do nothing. Or you can set up a password for your router so any new device added in the future can do so.

My Router: Westell 327W

Configure-> wireless->
Wirless: Enable
SSID: Name of Wirless Point
Chanel: 6
Mode: Mixed
4x support: Disable

Authencation Type: Open
( For some reason wirless has issues with Share but open is fine as long as you enable the encryption)

WEP Key: Enable (Disable means anyone can connect without a password)

Key Select: Key 1 ( there are 4 Keys you must provide, but they also must select the right key and password in order to use internet access.)

Key 1: 64 Bit key 12345
Key 2:128Bit Key 1234567890
Key 3:
Key 4:
There are 64 bit, 128Bit, 256bit
WEP keys are 5, 13, or 29 text digits or 10, 26, or 58 hexadecimal digits for 64, 128, or 256 bit keys respectively

Hide SSID:( Hide the name of your router so no one knows it)
MAC Filtering:Disable ( This is if you want to restrict only the wirless computer you have now to use the router. All other wirless connection will be denied if not on the list)

Edit: ( to add the Mac Addresses)

Save(Self explained)

*If you are not using DSL then please retrieve the booklet information and look up your routers IP address. From there you can look around at the options to see who is using the wirless point. You might find somehting similar above if you want to put a security key on your router to prevent people stealing your internet

If it ask you for a name and password to continue its a security feature. The log in name is your User name when you sign up and the password is your password you use to sign up (DSL) if its cable try that if those two combinations dont work look for the default name in the booklet.

arp -a only shows network connections within a network segment - if you have a private ip address like 192.168.1.1 - you will see only yourself and no one else.

If you see other IP addresses (192.168.1.2 and others) - then someone is stealing your wireless internet and one has to activate encryption.

The other poster does not give an answer but is trying to fish out information about your configuration.

open command prompt

type
>arp -a

you will be able to see everyone connected to your computer.
Type the above in the computer that shares the internet connection.
