Because there are things we seem to leave it to the experts maybe because we don't have the instruments to measure their findings...as with this question : which falls faster , a light or heavy object ? People foe 200 years believd that the heavier an object is , the faster it falls ! For 200 years until proven false when one wooden , the other iron cannon balls were dropped from the top of the Leaning Tower of Pisa ! Both fall at the same ACCELERATION... then the WHOLE WORLD CHANGED ITS BELIEF !!!!!! It is the same today because the bible says that THERE IS NOTHING NEW UNDER THE SUN ! But with the PAINT , it is EASIER to prove for it is not beyond our reach to do so...God Bless

I don't touch wet paint when someone tells me not to touch wet paint. The stars are out of my reach so I don't care much for them either.

I think that you are referring to the nature of someone's reaction and the reason for it. We cannot touch the stars, so we have to trust in science...

Why do you park in the driveway and drive on the parkway? LOL! But seriously, I believe that it's because you can't sit around and count all the stars to verify if what you're being told is true but of all the information we have on the stars it appears to be valid. For most people when given the opportunity to verify what they are being told they must see for themselves. Have you heard the Bible story of doubting Thomas?

Because wet paint can affect you in the here and now whereas you know no one knows the exact number of starts out there and in any case it makes no difference to the here and now.
