I'll give you tips for preparing and for tryouts.
Be fit, on time and enthusiastic. Be prepared and alert to follow instructions. As k cheerleaders on the team for tips.
Find a good gymnastics center in your area, and have skills such as back-hand-springs, aerials, front tucks, back tucks...
Unless you are really tiny and are going to be a flyer, you need to get some muscle and lift some weights at least 3 times a week. Your going to be lifting PEOPLE and WEIGHT for every stunt.
Have a solid jump.
RUN. Fun a few miles every week. Start off at 1/2 a mile and work your way up. You need to train yourself or else you will get exhausted real fast.
Strengthen your core. 50 sit ups a day will improve jumps and stunting.
Keep a positive attitude. Always have a smile on your face!
Listen to your captain/instructor.
Don't be late for ANYTHING.
Practice 5 times a week.
Be sure to stretch real good before and after tryouts. Don't attempt moves unless you already know them or have trained for them. It will cause injury and annoy other team mates.

Dont be nervous :) to calm, right before tryouts take deep breaths and remember what it was like cheering out at those games, that should clm your nerves cause youll think about when you were a cheerleader, and itll make you feel like a cheerleader, because you ARE a cheerleader(: to prepare, just practice everyday and stretch everyday. if youre confused about something ask questions, and if rookies are asking you for help because you are a veteran, give it to them being nice and polite. Smile alot and be confident

try toning up your abs by doing 100 situps/crunches a day. drink plenty of water the week leading up to the tryouts. maybe try and make arrangements to meet up with friends a few minutes before tryouts so you know some people and feel more confident when you get out there. and remember, always SMILE!

you have to memorize the dance, chant, and cheer, and the names in case you have to call it.
you should work on back walkovers, back handsprings, front walkovers, front handsprings, backbends, splits(both sides and middle), back tucks, front tucks
i think thats all not sure just work on stuff you dont know.

Start practicing your yelling, sounds funny, but you need to learn to yell with your gut. One cheer too many, doing it incorrectly, can damage your vocal cords.
