I have an easement on part of this property that is being sold to some developers. The developers will not finalize the deal unless i sign off on the easement. So I need to know how much i should ask for compensation if i were to sign off my rights to the easement.

What is the easment for? How will giving up this easment affect you? How will it impact the future use and marketability of your property?

These are the quetions you need to ask yourself. Then when you think you have an answer, contact a land use attorney in your area to see what other rights if any you may be giving up by signing off on this easment.

As an appraiser; I would hire a competent one that deals with valuation of easements. You should be looking for a commercial appraisal firm. If the easement is valuable/ affects the value of your property then I would definetely consider ordering an appraisal. It will cost you at least $1,000-$3000 depending on the complexity of the easement and wether it is a temporary one (developer will pay a rent) or permanent (acquire the portion). You can ask the developer to split the fee.
