Missed or late periods are normal for many women, especially when they are young or premenopausal. A lot of panic goes on on these boards about late periods, and people respond with misinformation. If you have not been doing anything that could get you pregnant, relax. Most Ob/Gyn's will say that you should have a period at least once every three months... and many are starting to question if you need one even that often. If you are seriously that late, by all means go see your doctor... they will probably either give you Provera or put you on the BC pill, which will regulate your cycle. And then everything will be fine.

I had a 16yo sexually active girl living with me, her mother had put her out and paid rent to have her stay. She also had missed one or two periods. Repeatedly went to public free clinic for test and found not pregnant. Her periods did resume on a regular basis.
I agree with the all of the previous answers that stress, life style etc, can/does contribute to late/missed periods.
It is possible for a virgin to become pregnant, if she has no Hymen. If, "Making out" and the partner ejaculates near her vagina or between her legs semen may find its way inside. The same if a male ejaculates in a hot bath and she(a female) gets in after/with him and the semen can travel up her vagina.
Bottom line, go to your doctor and find out the reason.

thats normal. you may miss a few. it takes time for your body to adjust to the changes. sometimes it is due to stress, exercise, the way you eat. those can be factors in missing a period. so dont worry, it is totally normal.

It happens sometime. If you are a virgin and have not been doing anything that could transfer fluids everything should be fine

beingirl.com
yeah, i know, it's for teens mostly, and i don't know if your a teen or not, but if not it still has adult visitors.
go to, "ask iris" and brows over some of the already asked qustions or ask it yourself.
also, if you have just started your period or you havn't had it but 1 to 2 years (or less) it can be very irrigular. trust me, i havn't had mine but for half a year and it's soooooo unpredictiable!
good luck

If you're young it means you're not regular yet...no worries.
If you're been having your period for a few years your cycle could just be changing.
See your doctor is it's bothering you.

I'm not a pro, but I've heard that stress, diet, change of lifestyle can make it late sometimes.
