Is she my friend?
OKay OKay, I am a home health nurse that takes care of a patient in her home... ON Thrsday she called my boss and told her that I wasn't there.... Basically she got me into trouble. Because I told her that I was going to be there on Friday so she took the liberty of calling my boss to get me into trouble. so on Friday.... I went as normal to the clients home... The first thing that came out of her mouth was "are you mad at me" I calmly said "no" thinking to myself I am certainly not going to the extra mile with this lady... She said she would treat me to hot dogs, and buy me something from wal-mart, but to make a long story short is she my friend like she claims for doing this to me? Can I trust her? The only reason she ever wants me over is to take her places and when I can't she tells me to go home....

she is a patient, she should be nothing more. I am not saying don't treat her like a friend when you are taking care of her, but you must draw the line. Talk to your boss about her, tell him/her what she is doing (sending you home if you can't drive her to wal-mart) and that she is offering to buy you things. That alone can get you into trouble, you are not suppose to accept gifts from a patient you are working with. However if you wish to befriend her, then ask to be removed from caring for her, then when you are out and about offer to take her to walmart or other shopping places. That way, she can't get YOU in trouble and she can't send you home and have you lose that $ and you can not be fired for accepting any gifts.

She's not your friend. Patients should never be your friends. You have a professional relationship with them. That's all. She doesn't seem to like you very much. She called your boss to get you in trouble and she tells you to go home when you can't take her places. You can play along with her and pretend like she's your friend or you can say "Thank you for buying me a hotdog." or whatever she does for you and don't elaborate on that. I think it's best to just be as nice as you can be to her but don't be her "friend". Because you want to keep your job! You might want to tell your boss that she tells you to go home when you can't take her somewhere (if you have a good relationship with your boss!)

If this is an old lady your going to have to realize they do some strange things for attention and she's not your friend... I believe you should not look at this as a friendship... take care of her as you are suppose to and keep it friendly and leave... you don't need the stress... i hope your employer new you had planned to be there on friday instead of thursday... and make it clear to the old lady when she is to expect you... even to the point of righting it down on paper... hope things get better...

She is using you-sorry, but you said it yourself-when you can't take her places, she tells you to go home. And she got you in trouble with your job, need I say more?

don't trust her, she knew she was wrong that's why she asked you if you were mad at her.
