General Electric is a conglomerate. They're products include electricty and power generation, appliances, television, chemicals, cmmercial and military aircraft and plastics, among others. Berkshire is classified as a financial company.

A conglomerate is a large company that consists of seemingly unrelated divisions or businesses. A good example is Bershire Hathaway that sells everything from insurance to furniture to Benjamin Moore Paint to Dairy Queen.
