I've been on the pill for about two years and I am wondering what changes will occur in the short and long run if I stop taking them.

Going off the birth control pill generally has similar side effects to whatever you had when you went on, in the short term. If you went on the pill to control acne, minimize period pain, or schedule irregular periods... these negative things may come back. Or they may not, since you are two years older and your body has altered. A substantial minority miss their periods for 1-2 months after stopping. If you gained weight or bust size while on the pill you may find that those effects go away.

Generally it is thought that it takes 3 months for the pill to fully leave your system and return you to whatever your optimum fertility is. If you don't want to concieve, however, there are tons of babies concieved in that 1st month after mom went off the pill, so use another method. You may wish to postpone conceiving for a few months anyway, as there's some evidence that the pill can increase the likelihood of tubal pregnancy and it makes it easier to calculate the date of conception if you know the first day of your last un-pilled menstrual period.

ok this depends......first of all how many are you taking and how long have you been taking them? this is important becuase if you been taking a lot of tem over a long period of time your body is use to it. however if you stop so suddenly that is nt very healthy becuase your body wont like the sudden change. you can have a bad reaction involving a BIG headache rashes, stomache ache or anything else. if your planning to stop ask your local Dr.
