It's not really impossible it's just not very likely, I mean for him to possibly marry his current girlfriend, Kate (who is a middle class Britain) would be a sort of Cinderella story in itself. It's just not likely that he will marry someone of middle class or lower standing. Now, he may marry outside of his nationality, but chances are that girl will be a very rich girl. He may even marry a princess from another country. Historically speaking, British royals have done that.

P.S. I know how you feel, a lot of girls regardless of socio economic standing, race, and nationality want to marry this beloved prince, but if really want it you'll have to work really hard, and morally.

Of course dreams do come true and nothing is impossible, but it is hardly likely. Prince William will someday be the King of England and has been raised accordingly and knows how hard it is to live under a microscope. Here in the US we get very little info on him...I am sure he is the topic in almost every news publication and the nightly news daily in the UK...as was his mother (greatly missed). Not to mention the traditions and requirements to marry into the Royal family. It would be more likely that Prince Harry could marry an American...after Prince William marries and has an heir or two...sorry, but that is just the way of the world...check out history...

The rules of succession require that Prince William marry a person of Royal lineage. If an American woman can prove she has royal blood (some can do) then she might be able to marry the Prince.

The reason being that any children from the marriage would not have clear title to the throne if their mother was a commoner.

In some cases royal princes did marry commoners but this was called a morganatic marriage and children of the marriage could not take the throne and had no right of succession.

These are old antiquated rules of succession and might well be done away with if the Prince wants to marry a commoner. Camilla is a commoner although her Grandmother was the mistress of Edward the VII who was Charles great great grandfather.

I think it would take an act of Parliament to approve Harry or William marrying a commoner wife.

Renate is talking through her hat. There is no requirement for royals to marry other royals, and this has not been the practice since the 1920s (none of George V's or Elizabeth II's children married royalty, nor did Princess Margaret). Camilla did not qualify because her ancestor was Edward VII's mistress!

There is nothing in law preventing William from marrying a suitable American (and the Crown Prince of Denmark married an Australian) but he already has a girlfriend about whom he is serious enough to be shacking up with.

It’s not out of question but it’s probably unlikely. I very much doubt they have to marry someone who has Royal lineage, as far as I know Diane didn’t though the Spencer’s were aristocratics, they weren’t of Royal blood. Nor is Charles current wife, and I don’t count that a couple of their relatives had an affair that doesn’t make her of royal blood, just someone in her family had an affair with someone who was royal.

As it is now both William and Harry are both involved with what would be called Common Women. William current girlfriend Kate from what I have heard her family is middle class if that. Harry's current girlfriend Chelsy is heiress to an African ranching and real estate fortune, but I guess she'd be consider a commoner too.

I was watching a show on current Royal families and it seems many of them are some how interrelated. Prince Philip , was of the Greek Royal family. In fact he was born Prince Philippos of Greece and Denmark, he gave up that title when he married Elizabeth. They are also some form of cousins to Princess Victoria and Madeleine of the Swedish royal family.

Hopefully he (and Harry) marry whomever they love, they should know from their own family what happens when people don’t marry for true love. It does not end well, and I’m sure William wouldn’t want any of children he had to have to go through what he and his brother have been through not to mentioned their cousins, Fergies daughters.

Uncle Edward gave up the throne but I’m sure he was much happier being with the love of his life, then to be King with out her.

It is possible as long as she is not Catholic. The Prince Charles, aka protector of faith, not The faith any more, would not mind his son, the would be king to marry anyone but he would not let him marry a Catholic. Yap the protect of faith, doesn't protect all faiths, a selective dimwitted would be king. go figure.

Dreams do come true, and yes NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE, but if you are dreaming of getting someone like Prince William! find yourself another dream, because that is only a fairy tail, a would be nightmare, not a good dream. reality, not always a good thing to learn.

His great uncle Edward did just that and wound up abdicating to Elizabeth's father, and his brother and Charles's uncle...and all led to Prince William as heir to the throne today...all for "the love of the woman he loved." Some things are just not done in royal circles..so it is in fact "impossible" if he wants to be King.
His great aunt Margaret gave up the man she loved, Peter Townsend, and was never really happy ever after.

Americans are some sort of monkeys speaking English. The fact that they like to imitate doesn't make them able to do most things right. And the Royal House does have some rules. I mean some would put their dog at the table to eat with the rest of the family. That couldn't happen with a Royal family.

Edward and Mrs Simpson.....King Edward married a divorced American! giving up the throne for her, he was our current Queen's uncle and if he had not abdicated, she would never have been Queen, unless Edward and Mrs Simpson had not had any children!

Prince William can marry any Christian woman, apart from a Catholic, as one day he will be head of the Church of England.

Everyone thought it was a shame that Prince Andrew never married Koo Stark, but this was because she had done soft porn and not because she was an American....

Technically, it isn't impossible. As long as you aren't Catholic, it's fine, legally speaking (see Act of Settlement 1701.) But he does have a serious girlfriend, and it takes a very dedicated person to marry a prince-it isn't all glitz and glamour. In fact, there is very little. Marry money instead!
