Of course it would depend on the individual player but I wouldn't think it would be on average much different between MLB & NFL. My guess would be the MLB player would be faster albeit for shorter distances.

Albert Pujols or Barry Bonds. Babe Ruth has some great numbers.. but the quality of play has changed so much since then. In the 1920s most players were semi-pros, who worked a second job.. even during the regular baseball season. Pitchers were expected to show up and pitch 9 innings every three days. You put any decent modern baseball player into that time.. and they're immediately hall of famers.

Well. That's not very fair to compare. MLB players only really have to run when they're baserunning or trying to get a tough catch. Football players run all the time. I'd have to say on average, football players are faster, but the best runners in the MLB like Ichiro Suzuki are probably faster than most football players.

you have a range of players - I would assume you are comparing the speedsters (io.e. SS, CF of MLB) and WR.

MLB they need to run 90 feet ./ 30 yards and they run around 3 secs. , so i think the WRs run just a bit faster.
