Burning oil because of bad rings, bad valve seals, or bad valve guides? Put a quart of tranny fluid in it to try to clear it up. If it still smokes, check the valve seals. Replace them if they are hardened like plastic. If they are OK it will be the rings. Any oil will work, it will always burn it until the problem is fixed. Good luck.

If you can't afford to fix the problem, try stepping up to 40 weight. Stay away from multi-viscosity oils such as 10-30 or 20-40 because when they thin out to their low range, the will burn faster.

Use a heavier oil such as 20/50, so it won't burn as fast.
