A friend of mine has a large fall garden, and a large group of wild hogs are tearing it up. He would like to try to prevent this by catching the adults of the group (or whichever ones he can catch) and relocating them away from his property. Wild hogs can be very destructive; they dig up water lines, sewer pipes, tear up gardens, etc. They can also be very aggressive, and he has 2 young boys at home. Can any of you tell me where we might find blueprints and parts lists for constructing traps to humanely catch and relocate these very large animals. Thanks...

We have already looked into whethe or not it is alright to relocate tem. They live in a National Forest area, so they were told that as long as they keep them in that area, relocation is fine. I just need plans to builb the traps.

Hmmmm....still no good answers. LOL I think that the 3rd answer had some merit. They aer dangerous and destructive. And I would not put it past my friend to trap them and then kill and eat them. GROSS!

Try contacting your local animal control department. (Usually a county agency unless you live near a bigger city). A lot of times they will help you get rid of animals like these especially when they pose a danger to people, through actions or diseases. In the area we used to live in we had a real problem with Raccoons and they gave us traps to use and took away the animals once we trapped them. Turns out that in the county we lived in because of the population problem (with the coons) we weren't allowed to relocate them...don't know what they did with them, didn't ask. So that is another issue you will have to look into. Good luck.

Not to be inhumane, but I wouldn't relocate them, I'd dispose of them. As you said, feral hogs are very distructive to the land and not native to this country. There's no reason to make them someone else's problem. I'd call some animal control company and have them removed for good.

I think your friend should check with his local branch of the DNR (Department of Natural Resources). He might be breaking a law by re-locating them on his own. Not to mention that he might get hurt.

No trap is humane.
