if it goes 200 ft in 3 seconds, multiply by 20 to get distance per minute

200*20=4000 ft/minute

then multiply by 60 to get distance in ft per hour

4000ft/minute*60minutes/hr=240000ft/hr

then divide by 5280 to convert from ft/hr to mi/hr

240000ft/hr / 5280ft/mi = 45.45 mi/hr

Well it's going for 3 seconds. Multiply that by 20 to get to 1 minute. So that means you multiply the 200 by 20. So far you know it's 4000 feet per minute. Multiply by 60 to find out how far in an hour.

4000x60=240,000 feet per hour.

Convert feet to miles
240,000 divided by 5280 (I think!)=45.45 mph

60 mph = 88 feet/second is worth remembering - occasionally saves time on homework and tests. You can use it on this problem:

200/3 * 60/88 = 200 * 20 / 88 = 45.4545...

Covert 200 feet to miles set that equal to D.

Covert 3 seconds to hours set that to T.

Your answer is D/T.
