Widescreen. I don't like to miss anything. I even prefer to watch movies alone most of the time so no one makes noise during the good parts.
I know a lot of people who say, "I don't like widescreen, those black bars ruin the movie for me." They don't ruin the movie if you ignore them, and after so many movies those bars blend in with the edge of your T.V.
If anyone doesn't like widescreen, they should watch the clip about widescreen versus fullscreen on T.C.M. I'm sure seeing both versions of Lawrence of Arabia side-by-side will change their minds.

I agree. Widescreen is much better. I watched a show once that compared the differences . . . the original widescreen version had the two main characters face to face in a heated discussion. In the cut down fullscreen version, they had to edit the scene going back and forth from one face to the other. It totally lost the impact of the scene.

Widescreen now, because we have a widescreen tv. But before, I preferred fullscreen. I hated the black lines and thought it was too small.

I personally like full screen because if we wanted to watch everything in wide screen we could just buy a widescreen tv.

Buttt... I could be watching a movie and then halfway through realize that it's actually in widescreen, so I guess it doesn't really matter.

*Widescreen* Fullscreen versions cutoff some of the scene. Inevitably, the main character is looking at something or talking to someone out of the picture and you lose the intent of the scene.

Widescreen - you don't miss parts of the picture. Besides, my DVD player has a zoom function so if I want to see it in fullscreen, I just have to hit the zoom key.

Fullscreen.

Wide Screen. I want to see the director's full vision for the film, not just some pan & scan technician's idea of what will most expediantly fill the screen regardless of how much continuity is destroyed.

The two worst phrases in the English language (regarding movies) are "Formatted to fit your TV screen", and "Edited for Time and Content".

Just my humble opinion.... :-)
