I have a china hutch that has been in a smokers home..I have a non smokers home and I can really smell the smoke from it...

wipe it down with denatured alcohol this will desolve the resin left on it from smoking. Once you have rubbed it down good and are sure most of the resin is gone wax it with lemon pledge or something similiar this will ensure any resin left will be sealed in. Pledge will also ensure your finish does not dry up and peal It will give the peice a nice shine.

Wash it with Windex it is fanatic at taking it off and wax.

the wood scent pledge is nice. That might do it.
