a cardiovascular technologist or a RN?
Which in the long run will be a better job?

I don't know too many cardiovascular technologists who work a lot of evenings and weekends. I know some RN's who work around the clock... and some get the graveyard shift every three weeks. In the long run, the more specialized your position, the better it is. My understanding is that the educational requirements are more stringent for the cardiovascular technologist; but if you can do the work, go for it!

RN. RNs can go in hundreds of different directions and are in great demand. If you don't like the situation you're in you can look around and see hundreds of other options. Plus the pay can be quite good and there are hospitals out there with family-friendly schedules and day cares on site.
