cats or dogs?

Depends on the breed, both can be excessively destructive if they are not trained, or do not have enough to keep them occupied. (More so in dogs) Cats tend to claw, spray and terrorize the mini blinds, but carpet, furniture and blinds can get really expensive, however these are things that are usually easily resolved, fix the cat, no more spraying, claw the furniture and rugs, scratching posts work wonders, the mini blinds, if you figure that one out let me know. Dogs on the other hand need a lot more mental stimuli, especially as puppies. they have a tendency to have accidents, bathrooms are wonderful, so is the garage, they chew, ask my friend who had to replace his ENTIRE banister on both sides of the stairs from going TDY and not being home for 2 days with a puppy, now has a wood chewer, who loves to eat the fence, RIPS APART FURNITURE and in general is an absolute terror.

The basic thing you have to ask yourself is how much time am I going to be able to devote to my new pet. I you are not willing to put a lot of time into having a pet, don't get one.

Cats!

I'm 55 years old and I've raised a gazillion kids and each one brought home a gazillion stray dogs and cats.

Cats are much more destructive and in the long run cost much more in vet bills if you care for them properly.

No matter how well trained a cat is or how old they are, they'll tend to pee on things anytime you mess with their environment.

Rearranging the furniture? Expect cat pee.

New boyfriend or girlfriend? Expect cat pee.

Fall asleep on the wrong side of the bed? Expect cat pee.

Both, dogs tend to chew, cats tend to claw. It all depends on the animal. Some cats and dogs will do nothing to the house, others will want to scratch and chew the place up.

I WAS GOING TO SAY HORSES, BUT YOU WERE SPECIFIC. SOME PEOPLE SAY CATS HAVE NEVER BEEN DOMESTICATED, BUT I HAVE 4 DOGS THAT ARE NOT DESTRUCTIVE AT ALL, EVER. BUT MY YOUNGER CAT DOES GET INTO THE DANGDEST THINGS!!!!!!!!!!!

I have both, and without training and supervision they both can do some damage. Try an older animal if you don't have as much time to invest in training.
