sadly, no.
In a few years, we may see some semblance of it, but it will all be an illusion as the world powers begin to juggle for dominance again.

no, There is just too many people, if we can't do it now, then why could we do it say 100 years from now? when theres say double the population.
We could create more peace then we have now, but the whole world everysingle person? I highly doubt it, we are human and are not perfect.
You seem like a very ambitious individual, i say set your standards, becareful to not stack the "tower of goals" too high (imagining world peace) Because the tower will collapse and crush you. (Unfortunatly). I truely see you as an ambitious individual that could be something someday. Even if you are old, still a chance to be something or someone.

No. Since I want to cover everything, let's assume our status quo is world peace.

Another premise before i begin - people can't read each other's thoughts.

World peace. Let's say that someone makes a mistake. A daydreaming pedestrian spits his gum into a trash can, but misses. He doesn't bother to look back, because he's still in his happy place. Other people walking by will view him as a bad person, but if that guy doesn't get any reprecussion, people will see, subconsciously, that they have the "right" to do that too.

And it won't be just one occasion. Someone spills coffee over a colleague's work. If that colleague didn't know the spiller, he might think that that someone didn't have good motives.

There will be someone that will be piled seeing mistakes. Maybe not even one. Plenty of people.

Some of them will start trouble.

It sets a precedent (see above examples).

It grows.

There goes world peace.

no for war is art of peace and in order to actually have peace all war most end and because we humans are warlike thanks to ancesstory we can never be at peace for an extended period of time. Look it up almost every major century had a war and it was right after a bought of peace so as the chaos theory goes no love without hate no peace without war. Balance

I sincerely hope so.
One obvious way is illustrated in Orwell's 1984, although the three countries were supposed to be in constant warfare, I agree with Julia that there was no war.
Another possibility is Brave New World by Aldous Huxley
I hope humans are not going to end up in either of the two scenarios I hope we learn to solve problems without violence.
I believe the only thing needed for it is world wide emphasis on education.

i am an optimist, i always see the tumbler as half full rather than half empty. contrary to the popular belief that peace is not possible at all, i believe world peace is possible and it purely depends on the choices we make in our life time.

i would like to quote a line form a movie. "what makes man a man? is it the past? no! it is the choices we make in a life time and how we choose to end that which we have started or begun". these line has hugely impacted my understanding of life and in turn peace.

and finally, one and only solution to this chaos and disturbance in this present day world is Jesus. He is known as "Prince of Peace".

i am sure i will get thumbs down for this statement, but we can no longer deny a fact. that is what i believe in. it does not matter to me, whether i get a thumbs up or a down, what matters is the belief and the immense solace i get in this thought. i personally thank all the people who are going to rate this answer as thumbs down.

i knew it!

we can just continue hoping and praying........ coz everyone claims to be fighting that peace be preserved and yet in the process thousands are dying and many innocent lives are sacrificed. We all have good intentions but maybe....just maybe, Peace will be attained if we start within ourselves. Come to think of it, PEACE of MIND is hard to achieve.......how much more for WORLD PEACE. BUT there's no mountain that PRAYERS can't move, NO OCEAN, that it can't cross........so let's just keep on praying.....and prayin and prayin for miracle...that is WORLD PEACE

No way! When that happens, some countries/leaders will lose their playing roles as mediator (which give them power/status), defence spendings will be cut down (and down goes all the related industries, global economic will suffers) and there will be no by-products that stems out of reserach and development in the defence industry (zippo lighter, internet, velcro etc)

I don't think so. People are always looking for ways to delineate themselves and make themselves feel better than others. People are always going to want other people's resources, and sometimes the only way to get them is through force. I think the only way there'd be peace is if we obliterated ourselves and were able to start over.
