I need to do more than just disk cleanup and defrag, but I don't want to reformat if I can help it.

Remove any programs that you do not use. Do a scan disc. Download, update, and run Ad-Aware, Spy-bot Search & Destroy, Windows Defender, AVG Antivirus, and Belarc Advisor. What exactly are you looking to do with the HDD? i.e. get more drive space? Get it to run faster?

Use the backup utility to backup all the files you want to CDR, delete or uninstall all the stuff you dont, defrag, then copy your backup back to your HD.

okay first remove the programs you dont want to have and then use ccleaner and its free s one of a kind
