Yes, we have been many times. It is a beautiful theatre and features many plays each year. It is inexpensive and is located in an historic, picturesque town. The restaurants, for the most part, are very good,

There are actually 3 theatres. One features avant-Gard productions and one is a children's' theatre.

Many famous actors/actresses got their start at the Barter. Ernest Borgnine is probably the best known. Google the website for The Barter, State Theatre of Virginia. It's a good read.

I know this is an old question, but I ant to say I have been many times and the Barter's performances are top-notch. Anyone who appreciates good theater should see a production at the Barter if they get a chance.
